Tariffs and Necessities for Sale of Terrill Welch paintings - Choose Canada!

Business decision update from the Terrill Welch Gallery…

UPDATE Monday, February 3, 2025: Just because U.S. tariffs have been postponed for a month, our business position remains the same for now. A delay does not mean they are gone. We do not have confidence that the U.S. Government will be true to its word and they have given us good reason to believe that their bullying will continue. We will not put our U.S. art collectors into this uncertain purchasing situation until we are confident that it has been resolved. A 25% CHOOSE CANADA savings remains in place for others for now as well. We will review this situation again in six weeks.

Effective Immediately:

Our dear American art collectors of Terrill Welch Paintings, effective immediately, we regrettably are restricting export of Terrill’s paintings to the United States. Due to recent 25% tariffs on Canadian imports to the U.S., this restriction will be in place for as long as necessary. This is not a decision we make lightly. Over the years you have shared with us how much Terrill’s paintings mean to you and the positive impact that they have on your lives. Last year alone 20% of our total revenue came from sales to American art collectors. However, Terrill has made this decision for moral and ethical reasons. She has stated that not one dime of U.S. tariff tax on her paintings will go towards the current United States administration from painting sales by her gallery or studio. In trade wars there are no winners. Everyone is harmed. In this specific situation, the environment as well as the United States’ own people are being harmed by the decisions of a bad actor of the worst kind, a bully. Therefore, we each must do what we can, no matter how small and how inconsequential it may seem. Dear American art collectors, we deeply appreciate your years of patronage and look forward to your continued support in other immediate and meaningful ways. We look forward to again providing you with the paintings you love in the future. Be strong. Resist where you can. We send you our collective Canadian love during these unnecessary difficult times.

Our dear Canada, European Union, Mexico, China and United Kingdom art collectors, we ask that you consider Canadian artwork to add to your art collections and continue to (or for the first time) purchase Canadian artist Terrill Welch’s paintings. We are aware that there is currently a lot of uncertainty. Tariffs impact everyone. In these times, we each must do what we can. Beginning today, Terrill has asked that we offer a 25% CHOOSE CANADA savings on all original paintings purchased by you from her gallery and studio. This savings will remain in place for as long as necessary. We hope this small action will make a difference and let you know that we see you and we are with you during these difficult times.
